Spotlight on Clinical Pilates

Postet on by Amanda Buck

Did you know that we are one of the largest Clinical Pilates clinics in the Westside of Vancouver? The majority of our therapists are trained through STOTT Pilates as rehabilitative instructors. We can integrate Pilates exercises into your regular rehab treatment or carry out one-on-one customized Pilates sessions for you. We have had a lot of success with clients that struggle with the typical gym exercises like squats or planks. It is also a great starting point for clients who are just looking into getting their physical fitness going.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a system of exercises originally created by Joseph Pilates over 50 years ago to develop strength, flexibility, and endurance in the muscles of the spine and limbs. It emphasizes initiating movement from the core while maintaining correct spinal and pelvic alignment, and using breathe as a focal point to connect the mind and body.

STOTT pilates was developed by physiotherapists, sports medicine experts, and fitness professionals and is a contemporary approach to the original exercise system. It integrates modern principles of exercise and rehabilitation, and includes modifications and preparatory exercises that allow for this technique to be appropriate for people with varying abilities and body types.

Who can benefit from pilates?

Pilates is particularly beneficial for people suffering from:

  • back or neck pain
  • poor posture
