Marina MacDougall (She/Her)
Marina completed her Masters in Physiotherapy at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Prior to her physiotherapy education, Marina completed a BSc. in Kinesiology with honours from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and was a certified personal trainer through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. Marina uses knowledge from her background in biomechanics and exercise prescription to help her patients learn functional movement patterns in order to relieve pain and return to the sports and activities they enjoy. She combines manual therapy, muscle testing, and dry needling techniques to improve underlying neuromuscular dysfunction. Marina has also taken post-graduate courses in vestibular and post-concussion assessment and management.
Working with runners to rehabilitate overload injuries is one of Marina’s special interests. A runner herself, she worked in a number of running stores through her undergraduate years that ignited a passion for the sport and the people in the running community. Her history as a competitive swimmer has also lent itself to working with triathletes, a discipline Marina herself has recently started competing in.
When not in the clinic, you might run into Marina in the neighbourhood walking her pumi puppy, Wicket. She spends many of her summer weekends hiking and camping and during the winter you’re likely to find her snowboarding at Cypress.
